Summer Kitchen & Barbecue Area
So
what is a summer kitchen then? In
Spain, or wherever you are in the world, the idea of outside dining is
much more convivial than eating inside. The food just
seems to taste better for some reason, whether you're on vacation or in
your home town.
In summer, the Spanish live outside and
only really go in to sleep late at night, due to the heat of
the
day. This also includes the kitchen, where an outside spot is
normally reserved for cooking over a fire or gas. Dishes like
paellas are traditionally cooked outdoors.
Alfresco
dining is wonderful - why not go all the way and cook outside
as well? Here at Perleta
Magic,
we have the facilities to do just that. These areas were designed and built with vacation
ideas in mind: a large sweeping tapas bar in the Canary Islands had all
manner of crockery embedded in its wall surface, and the concept of the
separate barbecue area in its own right came from seeing a
place
in Key West, Florida (USA).
The summer kitchen has the sink, under counter fridge to keep
things
cool,
and extensive benchtops for preparation and presentation.
The
barbecue area is further down, so as to give plenty of space.
And
of course gazebo and large inlaid Moroccan table. The
benchtop
splashback is an extended mosaic of palm trees, stretching
all the way down to the BBQ area.
It
is an
excellent area for lunch, with plenty of shade available for protection
from the sun, and discrete lighting gives the area a
very
comfortable feeling during the evening. Just perfect for
outdoor
living.

lower patio is in the background, leading to the CrocPit, orchard, and
separate pathways to both the Bungalow and Guest House.

The BBQ is
a professional gas model with three burners, plus there is
an additional gas hob with four burners.
Rugged
kitchenware is available to use for your
alfresco
feast, e.g. seasoned frying pans, Mexican sizzle platters,
polycarbonate picnic plates etc.
